FAQs

These are common questions (and answers) from clients, before they start out. Hopefully it helps.

Do I need to be fit before I start training with you?

Not at all. Most people start because they want help getting fitter. I’ll match the sessions to your level so you can build up safely and feel comfortable from day one.

What happens in the free taster session?

We talk about your goals, any injuries, and what you want from training. Then we go through a light workout so I can see how you move and plan the right programme for you.

I’ve never been to a gym before. Is that a problem?

Not at all. I work with a lot of beginners. I’ll show you how everything works and make sure you feel confident using the equipment.

If I do the remote sessions, will I need my own weights?

It's good to have your own set of weights, and ideally a bench, to work with, but, to begin with we can do weight bearing exercises instead. I have even adapted sessions to use a shopping bag filled with 1kg bags of sugar before!


We can discuss the basic equipment in our taster session, and I can give you advice on what to do, for example maybe buying some second hand weights to begin with to get started.

How long is a session?

Sessions are usually around an hour. That gives us time to warm up properly, train with good technique, and finish without rushing.

How often should I train each week?

Most people do two or three sessions a week, but it depends on your schedule and goals. We’ll find a routine that fits your life. I have clients that train from 1 to 4 sessions a week.

How long does it take to see results?

You’ll usually feel stronger and more energetic within a few weeks. Visible changes take a bit longer and depend on how consistent you are with training, sleep, and food. I can give you advice on all on those in our sessions.

Can I train if I’ve had an injury?

It depends on the injury. I can adapt exercises so you can train safely, and if something needs checking by a physio, I’ll let you know.

What do I need to bring to a session?

Comfortable clothes, a bottle of water, and that’s it. I’ll handle the rest.

How does the paying work?

I can explain the money side of things on our free taster session, and it's also explained in detail on the paperwork that we would sign should you decide to go ahead and train with me.


But, the simple answer is that you choose the package you want to go for, and you then pay into the Luca Health & Physique business account before the session(s). The reason for this is

  1. It allows you to take advantage of the cheaper packages I offer when you buy more sessions in advance
  2. Makes my business smoother as it allows me to concentrate fully on the sessions, not chasing invoices

What’s your cancellation policy?

I can discuss this on our free taster session, and it is also specified in detail in the Luca Health & Physique cancellation policy.


But, In short, I do allow cancellations of individual sessions prior to 24 hours from the sessions.


I also allow package cancellation, if necessary. For the latter, the money refunded is calculated based on the number of sessions, what package they fall into, etc. to allow for the different packages I provide to be fairly charged. This process is outlined in detail in the Luca Health & Physique cancellation policy, with examples, which you would have to agree to should you wish to commit and train with me.


But to note, as it is standard with most personal trainers

  1. Late cancellations and no-shows count as used sessions.
  2. Packages are non-transferable.
